Goal Setting
Goal setting involves planning for educational or vocational training, as well as developing important life skills like budgeting, navigating medical services, finding housing, and securing employment. It may also include the option of having community mentors who can offer support and guidance, as transitioning out of foster care can be a challenging and isolating experience.
How To Become A Mentor
Mentor applicants must be at least 21 years old and understand the impact of foster care departure with no resources or supportive family. Mentors should have a passion for guiding youth and young adults into independence. They will complete a brief training session with Families Thrive Inc. to understand their voluntary role with young adults. Mentors are not responsible for providing financial support or housing for youth, instead will offer support for the duration that best works for both parties.
